Tony Almeida did research for me and told me that the bridge does not collapse. With the half mile that the rig covered, he lost some gas...which made the truck lighter. The bird compensated for the lost weight so it was still 14 million pounds.
The bridge does not collapse it is strong.

well, you have to ask, was it a dodo bird (some which weigh up to 300 pounds) or was it a pigeon that can only 25 pounds? i would have to guess that the engineer that built the bridge used standard instead of metric and therefore the bridge is actually stronger than suggested even with a 600 pound dodo bird.
