Happy New Year!!!
happy new year everyone!!!!!!
i trust that you all had an eventful stroke of midnight.
mine was spent in bed sleeping.
this year my parents and i did not do the usual clanging of the pot and pans, jumping up and down with change in the pockets, wearing polkadots for good luck.
apparently, and i just found this out, my parents had fallen asleep too! hahha
well the rest was much needed for all three of us. =)
my day was a good one though.
Today marks the 3 birthday of Mater Dei Parish!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! =)
So the bishop of the Diocese of SD officiated the mass.
Bishop Robert H. Brom was the one who gave me my sacrament of confirmation, so I was excited to hear his homily.
It was a good one indeed. very VERY meaningful for me.
he talked about distractions and getting caught up in work.
how funny ...'cause that's been the story of my life these past couple of days.
he talked about how we often lose sight of our mission.
and that we need to stay focused.
he talked about Mamma Mary.
and how Mater Dei (the Mother of God) was devoted to the Lord.
she knew her mission and was focused on that mission.
such a great example for us all.
then he began to talk about Mater Dei and how it's easy for us to get caught up in the work of the church and all the fundraising. but that we ARE the church.
this is what he said...
"the Church needs a mission. and the Mission needs a Church."
so much truth in that.
we need God. but God needs us too.
we must submit ourselves over and over again.
that His Will may be fulfulled through us.
that we may be used by Him as intruments.
that He may send us out and we may be His Physical Hands here on earth.
and that my friends is why he's the bishop. hahha.

the rest of the day was spent with family!!! =)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
did some catching up with an old friend.
that was awesome.
one goal for this year is to patch up broken bridges.
still thinking about what else i want to do.
