i really need to get this off my mind/chest

hi.
so wow. they are offering me another year of teaching as the vocal arts director.
oh my gas.
i have some major issues with it though.
please don't get me wrong, it's been a great 7months.
wow i can't even believe it's already been that long.
it's been my dream job for awhile now.
i've learned alot.
i've failed.
i've succeeded.
i've been hated on.
i've been given appreciation from my students.
i've persevered.
i've been apart of positive change.
i've trusted.
i've been disappointed.
i've cared.
i've changed.
i've grown.

but in the process, i'm sad to say that some student relationships have changed.
you see, i knew some of my students prior to working at Otay.
i know them through my service at Mater Dei Parish.
and i have been serving at Mater Dei with some of these students for 3+ yrs now...
well, i can honestly say that i've done the best job i can of not "playing favorites" or not bringing any of that into the classroom.
but kids will be kids.
and just last week, I found out that to this day...
some of them still get grief from their peers because they knew me prior to becoming their teacher. =\
it's tough.
i mean i could care less about them talking about me behind my back and whatnot.
we ALL know what it's like to be in HS. come on now.
but the fact that my presence has affected others really bothers me.
it's really holding me back from accepting their offer.
everyone might be better off if i worked elsewhere.
but it's ALWAYS difficult to find positions as a choir director.
those are normally the ones that never really leave.
hahhahah.
well at least in the SD area.
